 Preventative Maintenance Programs

Preventative Maintenance Program (PMP)
Today’s market demands for economical products and high production efficiencies make it necessary for our customers to reduce machine downtimes to a minimum. Whether for regular scheduled maintenance routines or in emergency cases the equipment must be ready to produce again as fast as possible. As a screening solutions provider W.S. TYLER has recognized the necessity for a new service. Our Preventative Maintenance Program (PMP) is designed to considerably cut the operation and maintenance costs for our customers´ vibrating screens and media.

Even though emergency situations can never be fully avoided they can be minimized with proper, manufacturer-supported maintenance. But in addition continuos costs for spare parts and service can be reduced significantly with the proper program. The benefits of the general services covered by a preventative W.S. TYLER maintenance program are listed below:

1. Reduced Service Rates
A PMP enables W.S. TYLER technicians to plan their travel to the site, and accommodations at the site, well in advance. These advantages are directly passed on to the customer in the form of significantly reduced service rates. Customers who choose a PMP benefit from reduced service rates. Due to the establishment of a loyal relationship, the PMP rates are maintained even in the case of emergency calls or any other service situation that may arise.

2. Inspection and Vibration Analysis
During every PMP visit of a TYLER technician, the machines and media are inspected thoroughly for visible damage. To determine any irregular operating conditions, W.S. TYLER’s self-developed, computerized vibration analysis tool can be utilized. The measuring system features up to 8 accelerometer channels allowing a full scale screen performance analysis. The information allows for on-screen display of orbit plots, peak-to-peak and average accelerations, and displacements, as well as RPM computing and FFT analysis. Based on the data, the performance of vibrating screens can be evaluated in terms of proper speed and stroke. The determination of critical and developing faults such as spring problems, loose machine components, or other issues, is also possible. The results of the tests are put into a valuable and easy to understand report. Together with the customer's maintenance department, TYLER technicians review and explain the information and with the assistance of TYCAN® engineering make recommendations on how to improve screen performance based on different settings or new parts.

3. Sizing Assistance
W.S. TYLER focuses on the development of high-tech screening solutions. Housing a Screen Media and a Vibrating Screen Division beneath one roof for over 70 years gives us a vast experience in correct sizing and achievement of the desired product. During a PMP the technician is in constant contact with the Media and Machinery Division and is capable of consulting with the customer on correct machine settings and media choice. These results are directly transferred into a more cost effective and accurate production for the customer.

4. Regular Maintenance & Media Seminars
A valued feature of the PMP's, is the regularly scheduled maintenance seminars. The courses combine theoretical boardroom presentations with “hands-on” experience at the machines. The seminars ensure that the customer's Maintenance Department is always informed about the newest maintenance techniques as well as helpful upgrades for TYLER/TYCAN machines and the newest media developments.

All seminars are custom-designed to suit the media, and machine types and features of the customer.

5. Rebuild Program Management
During many years of service, wear parts, as well as the drive assemblies of the vibrating screen equipment may suffer. Often however, the structure of the machine may still be in very good operating condition, and therefore a complete machine rebuild may be justifiable. Under optimal circumstances such rebuilds should be conducted directly in WSTC's production facilities. Depending on the site location this may not be feasible. In such cases, WSTC technicians offer PMP customers assistance in overseeing an in-house rebuild program onsite, provided that the maintenance facilities offer all the necessary tooling. If WSTC personnel are present, and original TYCAN spare parts are used, the factory warranty of one (1) year for rebuilt machines is valid.

6. Spare Parts Inventory Management
After a first analysis of all TYLER/TYCAN machines on site, the WSTC technician is able to make an initial recommendation on the spare parts required. During the constant development of the PMP, the technician will gather more experience with the specific operating conditions of the equipment, and will be capable of suggesting a spare parts inventory, and will also be in a position to estimate yearly parts usages. This inventory management will help:

  • significantly reduce downtimes in emergency situations due to availability of parts
  • guarantee the order of parts and media according to correct drawings and parts numbers
  • initiate part standardization programs to increase parts availability and reduce the parts pricing
  • improve the customer's cash flow due to the elimination of wrong and obsolete parts and the planning of yearly inventories

  • 7. Reduced Spare Part Prices
Finally, the Spare Parts Inventory Management feature of a PMP allows us to plan production runs for spare parts, thus reducing production costs. These operating advantages are again transferred directly to the customer in the form of significant discounts on spare parts and media. Financing solutions and stocking programs are also offered to maximize the customer's cash flow and parts availability.
